The Commission for Religious Relations with Muslims is a commission in the Roman Curia tasked with maintaining positive theological ties with Muslims and Islam. Its current leaders are Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran and archbishop Pier Luigi Celata, whose predecessors include Cardinal Paul Poupard and archbishop Michael Fitzgerald. ==Structure== It works within the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue. On 11 March 2006, Pope Benedict XVI placed the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue under the leadership of the President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, Paul Poupard. However, as this was seen as "downgrading" interfaith affairs,〔Yahoo News. (Pope in about-face over Muslim dialogue office ) May 28, 2007〕 Pope Benedict again gave the Council its own President in 2007.
